I wanted to give everybody an update on my real life, as well as to apologize for not being around as much lately . . .
A bit of background . . . I have gone through periods of depression throughout my life. The worst was when I nearly lost my house nine years ago. Things had been better for awhile, and then they got worse again. With my Dad's failing health, and strained relationships with my brother and sister, I had been going through a mild depression for a number of years. SSHM was a game that I enjoyed playing, and it was one of the few things that I enjoyed. Life pretty much consisted of work, which was blase, and SSHM. How to relax ... Lilac style
This is not going to be a thrilling, informative blog post so feel free to back out now. As some may know, I was away for about 11 days at the beginning of August. I spent half that time at North America's largest spa: Le Nordik. It sounds more exciting than it was ... who am I kidding? It was really great. And surprisingly inexpensive: I had 5 days, 4 nights in the lodge, full spa access, one massage, one body treatment, and a Kalla (which is actually the point, which I'll get to in a second) for $550 Canadian, taxes in. We had to bring our own food but that was all. The trick, as in many vacations, is the number of people. We filled one of the lodges with 12 people so it was quite affordable.

As I've just reached the 200 milestone I would like to say thank you to everyone who has helped me get this far; I couldn't have done it without you. I've met some great people on here and I hope as time goes on to meet many more.
I started playing HMSS in January. When I found this site in May I was so happy to see that I wasn't alone in having so many questions about the game. With time I've learned so much thanks to everyone's postings and help. I still have a ways to go and I'm fairly new to the whole forum experience but I know help is but a message away.

August 8, 2016 marks the second-month anniversary of my joining the wiki, and it continues to be one of THE BEST decisions that I have ever made. It continues to feel like I have been here much longer, and it continues to feel like home. 💞💞💞

Real life free things
Okay, I'm the type of person that typically gives things away when I'm done with them (I take very good care of my things). I had the good fortune of living on a main street of a town and I would post a FREE sign and put whatever I no longer needed outside. Sometimes it was one thing, sometimes there were more items. I'd put desks and chairs and dishes and smaller things like binders or books.
The items would never last more than a few hours. One time I was just finishing put things out, when a van pulled up and started loading things in. He asked if I had anything else. LOL. Lilac's Lament
So, I broke the first rule of TTing - thou shalt backup thine game. Then, I broke rule number 10 or something: thou shalt not TT to the future during an event. And now I heartily lament my folly as TE will not start for me. The picture opened but that is where the fun ended. I can't even get sunglasses from the amusement park or the Japanese house.
I've tried backing up the game (what a pain, btw), deleting it, reinstalling it, and putting my back up back in with no luck. There are a few other combinations that could be attempted but I fear all is for naught. I made my bed and must now plunge myself in, burrow under the blankets, and possibly eat several pounds of chocolate.

Anti-smoking campaign
Ever notice the number of pipes in the game? Sure, they're not cigarettes but they do require tobacco. I'm sure something else could be used instead ... in the palatial office a notebook, ancient library a book, camping picture a mosquito coil, etc.
But, I guess if Mytona hasn't caught on about the Barbie doll images from the 80s (you know, the ones that were always white) and added a variety of skin tones and face shapes for both men and women yet, they probably don't care about smoking ...

Live! Chat is a chat room where people are able to talk online with each other.
It is an excellent place to get to know your friends better. I have had great chats with Foss and AAA in the chat room, so if you ever get the opportunity to chat with them, I would encourage you to do so. Foss and AAA have unique avatars that are easy to recognize, but if you are ever wondering who is in the chat room, hold your cursor over the avatar of the person(s) that show up in the chat room.
As no record is kept of any chat, this is an excellent place to exchange e-mail addresses. It is a great place to get help if you accidentally deleted your game or need technical assistance. New wiki game friends have often been found during chats.

Creating Message Wall Greeting 😊😊😊
1) Decide what you would like your message wall to look like and what you would like it to say. You can even do the wording in something like Microsoft Word or Notepad, and then copy and paste the various sections into the "code." I will explain more about the code later.
2) Create a new page called Message Walls using the following link:

I have no idea if this goes out to other people but I am really just making notes to myself about the game because some things just keep occurring to me and to get them out of my head, I have to write them down. Here seemed as good a place as any ...
1. Why are people always losing their clothes? Boots, shirts, scarves, belts, etc. I've worked in a North African dig site and no one ever took off their belts or boots (especially!).
2. Really, what's up with the paid rooms? I guess it's just a ploy to get people to spend money. But it would be really expensive ... 100 bugs would only get you 5 plays at high seeker and costs 300 crystals!

When we are faced with adversity, it can be very difficult and painful, but it can also teach us a lot about ourselves. As I reflect on what happened here a few weeks ago, I believe that many good things can come out of the unpleasantness.
While emotions ran high, the spirit of collaboration was very evident. We worked together to rid this community of what troubled us. Existing friendships were deepened, and new friendships were formed. It was so refreshing to see how protective our community was when potential harm came its way. I feel very safe here, knowing that others who are more knowledgeable are looking out for the safety of our community. 😊😊😊

Visiting vs Charging
Ok visiting is different than charging. You can visit each friend 2 times per day and get 100 exp (150 with a Peace Amulet) and gold for each friend visit up to your reputation level. all you have to do for this is go into your friends board. Even if you have no power your visit into their board gives you points.
Charging is where you click on an award, room or puzzle. That is 50 exp per click (75 with Peace Amulet). The clicks are dependant on your power which is reset to full when you level up or use a gold 10+ power weight which is why folks want whales, gingerbread man, minerals and notebook. I am taking a break from this wonderful place . I have unintentially caused hurt , and drama and backlash to people here I have grown to care about. I think for now it is best that I step away from here for a bit. Having problems since Spring upgrade...
Now it's seems that there's random blackouts that Happen and take away whatever I've just done. Even my gifts if it happens at that point. Today after clicking on quite a few gifts and they had been sent in ( or so I thought) a blackout of cored, which sends me back to desktop on my iPad. I have to start over and return to the game and my gifts were gone. There were some I specially remember and they were not there. Spoke about this on another site and others have had the same problem. Can we get some help on this?? TIA

Good news for Bird Seekers
It appears that G5 has fixed the issue of friends lists crashing after adding 1000 something friends.
I have a friend who, as of this morning, has 1,331 friends on their Friends List and climbing. It is still too early to tell whether the 2000 friends bird is doable or not, but if my friend succeeds, I have a feeling that we may be seeing more bird seekers on the horizon.
I for one am not planning on going there, it was way too much stress just getting to 300 on a Kindle, but for those who can TT the story may be differant. Are you brave enough to attempt the task?
Did anyone spend money on the game?
In total, I have spent $20 on this game.
I spend $10 when i got the fifth element on this game. That was when it was at $0.99. Suffice to say, that wonderful deal never came back since. I once got the Magic Crystal x2 so spend the rest of the $10. just for the seeker's eye. That tool is quite useful.
Benefits to visiting
I've been playing SSHM for over a year. While playing, visiting has always been a controversial subject. Initially, each room allowed for one person to charge each room. Many players preferred sleuths, magicians and sages to charge their rooms and asked merchants to only charge their rewards. A lot of players deemed merchants "lowly" and many sought out sleuths. Last summer, an update allowed each room to be charged by each profession once, but with that came LBS, or locked board syndrome. Those who struggled with lbs begged their friends to not visit or charge any rooms, only rewards. A fix came with an update a few months ago and the threat of lbs is no longer an issue.

Well, it seems Tante Frieda and I have had a falling out. The yarn refuses to bend to my will and I refuse to make it a scarf. The yarn and needles have gone in a bag until we can decide what it wants to be. Maybe since Tante Freida was a down to earth woman I should give up on a lace shawl. Just make a nice, utilitarian shawl for daily use. Something to think about.....
Ahhhhh.....I'm so glad I typed this. I now have the shawl figured out. One small lace panel because I love lace and the rest beautiful but basic stitches. Sorry to cut the update short, but I have to sketch this out while it's in my noggin. Pics of skirt to come.
Lost all my friends
This morning I opened my game and collected my awards and some gifts. Then I went to give gifts and NO FRIENDS. I have been having some problems the past week or 2 with my game crashing when reciving gifts. I found if I collect a few at a time, I would not crash. However, today I lost all my friends. There good new if you are one of my friends, if you send me an invite (my code is GE4DIN ), if can re add you and give and recieve gifts and recive charges on my board. I can give charges but I am noticing charges left yesterday are not clearing out on my friends boards. My game name is GayleWhite.
FGDD Has Me Down and Out
Dear Friends, I am regretfully totally handicapped by the FGDD glitch at the moment and have been since March 16, 2016, since I downloaded the Spring update. I have submitted tickets and have gotten no response by G5 on this issue at all other than the automatic response saying they've received the ticket.
What this glitch does is it prevents me from accessing the friends tab, so I can't visit friends, charge awards or pictures, gift friends, accept and/or invite friends, etc. Clicking on the friends tab kicks me out of the game. It doesn't shut it down automatically, but it just shuts the game down making me having to shut down the kindle and power off before I can get back into the game again. I can play pictures and puzzles, but that's…
Another female avatar? Really?
This past year the game developers have seen to it that all avatars be female. I've heard that female players outnumber male players in this game, but I've yet to see any metrics to support this. I realize that there are bigger things to worry about in this world; however, this small issue is something that needs to be addressed. If the developers can't figure out how to make a male avatar at least create an androgynous avatar named Pat or Ryan or something. You could even put the avatar in some sort of pant suit thingy. I for one would choose this avatar is given the choice. Do the right thing developers! We want a Pat avatar!!!

One of the main areas of confusion in the Secret Society - Hidden Mystery game has always been deciphering the intended meaning of the limited instructions given within the game. Often, different people will read completely different meaning into the same piece of text, and likewise different people will see different trends and have different experiences when using the same game items.
In the case of Luck Talismans and Artefacts, the game's Luck modifiers, the confusion comes from players not being given a clear indication of their intended purpose in the game and not having a simple, quantifiable way of tracking their impact when they are activated.

The meandering journey of a wanna be book designer
I've been AWOL for many days. I think this book might eat me alive! One of the people I vivdly remember from Germany is Tante Freida. She was old when I was little and I always remember her with a shawl around her shoulders. I wanted to design a shawl in her memory. This is turning out to be a royal PITA. Of course, I want to knit it from the small tip and make it wider as I knit. Only one of the harder ways to design a shawl. AND...I want it in lace. Really Amber?

FRIENDS. I've culled my list for several reasons. I know people don't always play every day and certainly can't gift every day but I was spending too much time tracking gifts (sent & received).
- Unless you're someone I regularly chat with ... I'm not a fan of people listing only CIs.
- If you have less than 50 friends and play almost daily ... I have to wonder why you only send 'thank yous' or free items NOT on my wish list?
- Getting a message is often the difference between feeling used and feeling appreciated.

I was lvl 224 when someone warned me that I had LBS.
Cleared my board and fixed! Here is the thread about LBS http://the-secret-society.wikia.com/wiki/Thread:36229 explaining how to get ridd of it.
It's pretty simple: TURN OFF WIFI, play all the pictures and puzzles wich have been visited by your friends, pay extra attention to those wh have some anomaly as you wont be able to see if its charged with some friend help. After you are sure your board is clean reboot the game with wifi on and everything should work fine.
So I don't think the problem about visiting specific friends has to do with the lvl directly, but players with high levels have more friends and focus mo…
